A dedicated movement disorder nurse specialist, at County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust (CDDFT) has turned puzzles into purpose by creating special Fun Packs — full of word searches, crosswords, and brain teasers — to help raise funds for a comfortable visitor’s chair for elderly relatives of patients living with Parkinson’s disease.

The creative fundraising idea was inspired by the nurse’s experience supporting families who often spend long hours at a patient’s bedside. Recognising the physical strain on older relatives, the nurse hopes to provide a high-quality, supportive chair to make visits more comfortable.

The Fun Packs are available for a small donation, and everyone who completes and returns a pack will be entered into a prize draw as a thank you for supporting the cause.

“It’s a small gesture with a big impact,” said Hunter who is behind the project.

“The packs are a fun distraction and help keep minds active — and every pound donated brings us closer to giving families the comfort and care they deserve while visiting loved ones.”

All proceeds go directly to CDDFT Charity to fund the chair and enhance the visiting environment for patients with Parkinson’s and their families.
