Freemansons visit 10 December 24.jpg

On Tuesday, 10 December, we were delighted to welcome the Durham Freemasons to Darlington Memorial Hospital. The visit was coordinated by our CDDFT Charity and thank you to the colleagues on the wards who also supported the visit.

The Freemasons generously brought yellow comfort TLC bears for dementia patients on Ward 52. These bears, along with colouring therapy packs, provide security and companionship to patients during their stay in hospital. Additionally, they donated multi-coloured distraction bears for the children on the wards and in the Children’s Emergency Department. These special bears help calm young patients and provide distraction during important medical tests.

Lorraine, our Play Specialist, shared how impactful these gifts are, saying, "They will make such an amazing difference to the experience of our young patients.”

Chief Executive Sue Jacques also expressed her gratitude: “Thank you to the Durham Freemasons for all of the fundraising and donations. Their kindness, through our CDDFT Charity, will make a tremendous difference to patients and give them a bit of comfort while in hospital.”

Thank you again to everyone who supported this visit.
